Toward Dawn is heavily inspired by Welsh mythology and features usage of the Welsh language, characters with Welsh accents, and other references to Wales.
Welsh character names include Carys, Bleddyn, Tomos, Osian, Idwal, Tonwen, Aneira, and Dafydd.
Welsh voice actors include Paul Fakir as Bleddyn, and Nikki Mills as Aneira.
Many mythical Welsh creatures feature as enemies, including Llamhigyn y Dŵr, Bwbachod, and Cŵn Annwn. Others, such as gwyllgi and ellyllon, are races within the game’s world.
Mythical Welsh figures such as Arianrhod and Blodeuwedd are also referenced in various ways in the adventure.
Llanllwch, named after a place in Wales, is a location in the game, while the Welsh Otherworld of Annwn exists in this world.
The Welsh Dragon, known in Welsh as Y Ddraig Goch (“The Red Dragon”), is referenced as a dragon of great importance in the game’s lore.
Some weapons incorporate the Welsh language and have Welsh names.
