Persona 5 stars a black and white cat called Morgana, a name that comes from Welsh name Morgan, which itself comes from the Old Welsh name Morcant, meaning “sea born”. Given Morgana’s origins from the Sea of Souls, it is a very fitting name.
The mythical creature Bugbear appears in Persona 5 and other games in the broader Megami Tensei series. It is named Bugs in Persona 5, with the bugbear’s name itself having origins in an old Welsh word, bwg, meaning ghost, goblin or scarecrow. There is overlap with other mythologies as to the origins of bugbear, but Persona 5‘s in-game description calls it a Welsh creature. It was said to frighten naughty children and even eat them in some tales.
