The 2005 GameCube game Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and its 2007 Wii sequel, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, feature characters that appear in both titles with names of Welsh origin.

The character Greil used to be known as Gawain prior to the events of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. In Welsh legend, Gawain was a nephew and knight of King Arthur. The name Greil may reference the Holy Grail treasure from the later French Arthurian tales.

The character Gareth can derive his name from the knight of the same name in French versions of the legends of King Arthur, where he was also the brother of Gawain.

Rhys’ name is of Welsh origin, and can mean “ardour”, “passion”, “enthusiasm”, and “fiery”.

Heddwyn is a character whose name comes from the Welsh words “hedd” (meaning “peace”) and “wyn” (“white” or “pure”). The famous Welsh poet Ellis Evans, whom won numerous Welsh poetry competitions, was bestowed the bardic name “Hedd Wyn”. This full title is better interpreted as “blessed peace”.

Another character with a name of possible Welsh influence is Hafedd. Although this is not a Welsh language word, it could be connected to the season of summer (the Welsh word hafaidd is “summery”).
