Excalibur is a weapon that can be obtained in Final Fantasy XII.
In Arthurian tales, Excalibur is the legendary sword of King Arthur, with its name ultimately deriving from the Welsh Caledfwlch, where caled means ‘hard’ and bwlch is ‘cleft’. It appears in many interpretations of the stories of King Arthur, but it is first mentioned in Welsh mythology, including the earliest surviving Welsh tale, Culhwch and Olwen (Culhwch ac Olwen).
Excalipur can also be obtained. Throughout the Final Fantasy series, this sword (sometimes going by other similar names) is often portrayed as a weaker or fake version of the superior Excalibur.
The name of the character Reddas is pronounced with the Welsh language dd digraph, where ‘dd‘ is said like the ‘th’ sound in the English words “the” or “this”.
