Dragon’s Dogma level designer Kenichi Suzuki revealed that landscape inspiration came from a location scouting trip in Wales, where “the fields in the game were inspired by the Welsh countryside, using old castles and staircases as reference”. The grassy terrain and weeds that are noticeably different to that of Japan, as well as the steep hills going up and down, contributed greatly to the overall design of Dragon’s Dogma‘s world.
Some characters have names that are Welsh in origin, such as Meridith and Morganna.
