SCS Software has started development on a United Kingdom rework project for Euro Truck Simulator 2.
Wales is one of the countries that will benefit from the refresh treatment, alongside Scotland and England, in what is described as one of the team’s most ambitious reworks to date. The upcoming Isle of Ireland download content will see both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland incorporated into the game in the future.
Although details are being kept close to the chests of SCS’s developers, having now reworked areas such as Benelux, Austria, and Switzerland, it was only a matter of time before the UK received the kinds of upgrades that have drastically improved other European areas.
Project lead Abbe is working on rebuilding Wales, as well as parts of England, and notes that there are challenges to overcome since the UK is currently scaled differently to the rest of Europe. This will be made more consistent with extra details being worked into smaller confines.
With only the south Wales cities of Cardiff and Swansea featuring in the current version of Euro Truck Simulator 2, it is hoped from a Welsh perspective that more towns and cities from other parts of the country can be travelled to, including north and mid Wales.
Available now on Steam, Euro Truck Simulator 2 is also due to release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
