I recently spoke to Welsh developer Huw Millward about the success of his text-based adventure game Warsim: The Realm of Aslona, upcoming role-playing project Slumbox, and setting up a new games development studio.
One of the highest-rated games ever on Steam, Warsim has amassed a huge fanbase, with Cardiff-born Huw heavily engaging with his community to expand the title through years’ worth of updates.
Its success led him to move beyond solo development, setting up an independent company in the form of Worldviper Studios, which is now working on a new project.
Looking to, as he puts it, “punch the games industry in the face” with Slumbox, Huw is aiming high with the dystopian role-playing game, having already amassed two world records, including most comic books in a game and biggest soundtrack in an indie game, with the latter mostly encompassing music from Welsh bands.

A huge diolch to Huw for taking the time to chat with me about all things Warsim and Slumbox, and good luck with the development at Worldviper Studios!
Diolch o galon!
